In Wesker's Report II, he talks about the research that Umbrella was doing into the Filoviridae family, which includes the notorious viruses Marburg and Ebola. This would mean that the Tyrant Virus, and also its sister, the G-virus, would come from that research, and also be in the Filoviridae family.
